Lorraine Pascale

Lorraine Pascale was easily one of the most beautiful models of the nineties, appearing in numerous women's magazines and Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue.

The British beauty fell out of love with modeling and tried all sorts of professions before trying baking. It clicked with her.

Today Lorraine Pascale is a prestigious baker, making and selling high-quality cakes, cupcakes, and brownies. She has an exclusive distribution deal with the British department store chain Selfridges and has just opened her own bakery, Ella's Bakehouse (named for her daughter), in London. Her Web site is here. :-)

Newswoman Femi Oke

That cool British female voice you hear delivering the headline news on National Public Radio's morning show "The Takeaway" with John Hockenberry and Adaora Udoji belongs to the beautiful woman below.

Femi Oke is a British media personality of Nigerian descent who worked at CNN International reporting the weather and doing stories on Africa. "Sacked" (as she and her fellow Brits would put it) by CNN, she joined "The Takeaway" soon thereafter.

Actress Diane Lane

Diane Lane first received notoriety as a child actress at the age of 14 in A Little Romance, in 1979. She spent much of the eighties, however, as just another young Hollywood ingenue. But when she matured, so did her career.

In this past decade alone, Lane has starred in movies such as Unfaithful (for which she received several award nominations, despite the movie's mixed reviews), Under the Tuscan Sun, Hollywoodland (about the mysterious death of George Reeves), and Nights In Rodanthe.

She is currently married to actor Josh Brolin.

Actress Jayne Kennedy

If you grew up in the sixties, you remember Jacqueline Kennedy as a symbol of style. If you grew up in the seventies, you probably remember a different Kennedy in the same role. :-D

An actress, and later a sportscaster, Jayne Kennedy represented Ohio in the Miss USA pageant, the first black woman to do so. She was in demand as a model throughout the decade. She keeps a low profile these days.

Model/actress Dayle Haddon

I decided to feature Dayle Haddon today on this blog, and I found out while researching her that she was born in Canada.

How appropriate, since yesterday was Canada Day! :-)

Originally from Montreal, Miss Haddon grew up speaking both English and French. She established herself as an actress in France, but she was less successful in Hollywood; in the United States, she was seen as a model who acted, not an actress that modeled. She did appear in one popular film - 1979's North Dallas Forty.

Miss Haddon, who turned 60 in May, has been a spokesmodel for several cosmetics companies, and she's currently promoting L'Oreal's anti-aging products. She also serves as a wellness commentator for CBS's morning news show.

This is a recent picture. :-)
